That’s how many locals describe Coopers Beach Butchery, and it’s a badge we wear with pride.
The shop is run by Gavin Cameron, a skilled butcher with over 30 years of hands-on experience. Originally from Tiniroto near Gisborne, Gavin took over the butchery in 2021, bringing a new look to the store and expanding the range to include handcrafted smallgoods, specialty cuts, and quality pantry products.
Earlier in his career, Gavin’s traditional pork sausage was awarded the Supreme Award at the Great New Zealand Sausage Competition, standing out among over 500 entries nationwide. He credits the win to a simple philosophy: start with great meat, keep it honest, and focus on flavour.
Now based in Coopers Beach, Gavin and the team are proud to offer a true artisan butchery experience to locals and visitors alike.
